I am delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Amil Shah as Regional Associate Dean, Vancouver Fraser, effective October 9, 2014 to June 30, 2019.
Dr. Shah was selected following a formal search and on the unanimous recommendation of the search committee for his high level of commitment and many contributions to medical education scholarship.
During his tenure in the UBC Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Shah, a Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine, was Chair of the Neoplasia Week in the Principles of Human Biology course from 1999 to 2010 and Course Director for Clinical Skills, Year 2 from 2001 to 2010. In 2010, he was appointed as the Year 4 OSCE Director for the MD Undergraduate Program. He was appointed Assistant Dean, MD Undergraduate Education, Vancouver in 2012 and interim Regional Associate Dean, Vancouver Fraser in February 2014.
As Regional Associate Dean, Vancouver Fraser, Dr. Shah will provide leadership of the MD Undergraduate Program throughout the Vancouver Fraser region working collaboratively with the Regional Associate Deans at the Island, Northern and Southern Medical Programs. In his role, Dr. Shah will also work closely with leadership, faculty and staff within Vancouver Coastal Health, the Provincial Health Services Authority and Fraser Health as critical partners in the planning and delivery of medical education across the province, as we work together to foster and promote an environment of academic health throughout the Lower Mainland and across the province.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Shah to his new appointment.
