CHÉOS Scientist Dr. Adeera Levin has been appointed to the Order of Canada, one of Canada’s highest civilian honours, for her leadership in the treatment of kidney disease.
Dr. Levin is one of 100 new appointees that were announced on July 1. Recipients will be invited to accept their insignia at a ceremony to be held at a later date. Read more about Dr. Levin’s achievements and research focus on our website. Congratulations!

Postdoctoral fellowship: Responding to barriers to HCV treatment
Please join us in commending Dr. Margo Pearce, who was awarded the CIHR Canadian HIV Trials Network (CTN) James Kreppner Fellowship Award. This award allows Dr. Pearce to focus on her postdoctoral research, “Recognizing and responding to barriers to HCV treatment among young Indigenous people who use drugs in two Canadian cities,” under the supervision of CTN Investigators Dr. Marina Klein (McGill University) and Dr. Robert Hogg (Simon Fraser University).
Dr. Pearce recently completed her PhD under the supervision of CHÉOS Scientist Dr. Patricia Spittal. All the best in your new CTN role, Margo!

A new clinical trials resource in Canada
On Monday, June 22, CHÉOS hosted a presentation on the Canadian Clinical Trials Asset Map (CCTAM). The unique, robust, searchable web-based database showcases Canada’s clinical research strengths and positions Canada as an attractive global destination for the conduct of clinical trials.
The First Nations Health Authority’s (FNHA)International Journal of Indigenous Health is inviting submissions for a special thematic issue on “wellness-based Indigenous health promising practices.” The submission deadline is September 1, 2015. For more information, view the call for papers.
