When using desktop conferencing, like Skype, Adobe Connect or MOVI, you can make it much easier for other attendees to hear you clearly. By using a conference headset, you eliminate background noise (air conditioning, conversation etc.) from both what you hear and what the other parties’ year.
If you use desktop conferencing regularly, we recommend that you purchase one of these headsets. If you only do desktop conferencing occasionally, the Department of Psychiatry AV loan-out pool, in Detwiller Pavilion (Pt. Grey), now has a Microsoft LX-3000 USB conferencing headset, available for short term loan. After plugging it in, you should only need to enable it and disable your speakers/microphone, for it to be ready to use.
Information about reserving the headset can be found at http://psychiatry.ubc.ca/administration/room-and-audio-visual-bookings/
