I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Bruce Forster as Academic Director, Education Innovation, effective December 1, 2016 to November 30, 2017.
In this role, Dr. Forster will be responsible for overseeing the development of new course and program offerings within the Faculty of Medicine. Working in collaboration with faculty and site leaders across the province, he will oversee the delivery and success of new educational offerings, and explore opportunities to leverage and embrace new technologies and practices to transform the impact and reach of our existing programs, with an emphasis on expanding flexible learning opportunities.
Dr. Forster will also be responsible for establishing the Office of Education Innovation (OEI), set to be launched in 2017. The forthcoming launch of the OEI — which will oversee the development of new academic programs — represents an important step towards honouring our commitment to educational program renewal and realignment to meet evolving societal needs, as outlined in our new Strategic Plan: Building the Future.
Dr. Forster brings extensive leadership to this new role. In his current position as Head, Department of Radiology, he helps to advance the Department’s teaching and research programs in partnership with BC’s Health Authorities. Dr. Forster is also a Professor in the Department of Radiology, and Regional Head and Program Medical Director for the VCH-PHC Regional Medical Imaging Department. Over the course of his career, he has authored more than 110 peer-reviewed scientific publications and 100 educational exhibits.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Forster to his new leadership role in the UBC Faculty of Medicine.
