Dear Clinical Faculty members,
Dr. Bill Honer is inviting expressions of interest from clinical faculty in the Department for the important role of Clinical Faculty Representative for Psychiatry. This role is for a three-year term effective July 1 2017 to June 30 2020. The current Clinical Faculty Representative, Dr. Heather Robertson, will be concluding her term on June 30, 2017.
The Clinical Faculty Representative serves as the crucial link between UBC Psychiatry and the Clinical Faculty Affairs office, and will participate in the Faculty of Medicine Clinical Faculty Affairs Committee, an advisory group consisting of representatives from each department with the Faculty of Medicine, as well in other committees within the Department.
- As liaison between the Department and Clinical Faculty Affairs office, will present important issues and concerns of the Department to the Director of Clinical Affairs at Clinical Faculty Affairs Committee meetings
- Chairs the Annual Departmental Clinical Faculty Business Meeting in June
- Participates on five (5) committees:
Within the Faculty of Medicine:
o Clinical Faculty Affairs Committee: Meets every 5 weeks on Wednesdays at 7.30am
Within the Department:
o Clinical Faculty Appointment and Promotion Committee (CFAPC): Meets 2-3 times per year between September and June to review and discuss case files
o Head’s Executive committee – meets monthly on Thursdays 8.00am (usually September through June)
o Head’s Advisory committee – meets monthly on Thursdays following Executive meeting (usually September through June)
o Chair, Postgrad Clinical Teaching Allocation and Accountability Committee – participation on this committee is a requirement of the PGE funding guidelines
Typically 12-15 hours per month (fewer in July and August)
Payment is provided for attending the Departmental committee meetings at the rate of $90 per hour, and is invoiced by the members.
