SENT ON BEHALF OF DRS. DAWN COOPER, RICHARD LAZENBY AND ALICE MUI, FLEX COURSE CO-DIRECTORS
(Our sincere apologies in advance to those who receive this message and attachments more than once)
Dear Faculty Member:
I am writing to you on behalf of the FLEX Course Co-Directors in regard to the upcoming 2017/2018 academic year to invite you to apply for one or more positions in the FLEX courses that will be running in Year 1 (MEDD 419) and Year 2 (MEDD 429) of UBC’s distributed medical program. FLEX offers medical undergraduate students unique opportunities to pursue a variety of scholarly activities and research opportunities. Now entering its third year in the renewed medical school curriculum, FLEX has seen over 550 students successfully engage in one or more activities, working with various UBC faculty on research projects, engaging with community agencies (both local and international) and pursuing many other exciting opportunities.
Some of you may already be familiar with FLEX because you have been engaged as Activity Supervisors, working with students in an activity(ies) you either sponsored or for which you were recruited by the students. For Faculty interested in other types of teaching, there are opportunities to facilitate journal club sessions, as well as serve as FLEX advisors (scholarship advisors) to an assigned small group of students. The attached three documents (MEDD 419 and 429 FLEX Position Descriptions documents and accompanying application form) provide you with more information about all the exciting teaching opportunities in this innovative longitudinal course.
We kindly ask that you review all three documents (which include some changes from last year’s versions) and, if interested, please do the following by JULY 7, 2017:
Please email the items below to Niki Giannopoulos, FLEX Manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org:
- A short cover letter
- Your CV
- The completed Application Form (see third attachment)
All applications will be reviewed by Drs. Dawn Cooper, Richard Lazenby and Alice Mui.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
We hope you will apply!
