The 26th Annual Department of Psychiatry Research Day will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at the Marriott Vancouver Pinnacle Hotel downtown Vancouver. The main objective would be to showcase some of the research being conducted at the UBC. This will be accomplished through oral and poster presentation of research by trainees and faculty in the department.
As well, we will have one or two guest faculty presentations. The topics for these have not been decided yet. If you have any suggestions with regard to speakers or topics, please forward them to me before the end of the April.
Residents, Graduate Students, Undergraduate Students, Fellows and Interns are invited to submit abstracts for oral/poster presentation. Each abstract should contain the following information:
1. Title.
2. Presenter’s Name – Indicate Resident, Graduate Student, Fellow, Intern, etc.
3. Faculty Sponsor’s Name.
4. 200 words providing an introduction, methods, summary of results and a concluding sentence.
5. Indicate if the submission is for an oral (10 minutes with 5 minutes for questions) or a poster presentation, and if the alternative is acceptable should the first choice be not available.
For oral presentations, the sponsoring faculty member is expected to give a brief introduction of the topic and the relevance and implications of the study to understanding or treatment of psychiatric disorders.
A total of 4 awards will be given and each award will have a cash prize of $500 and a certificate. The categories are best basic science oral, best basic science poster, best clinical oral and best clinical poster presentations. Winners in each category would be decided by our distinguished panel of judges.
The deadline for submission of abstracts is 4:30 p.m., Friday, May 13, 2011
