20111111 Dean’s Announcement Survey

Sent on behalf of Dean Gavin Stuart

MEMORANDUM

Dear Colleagues:

You may have received messages about the UBC 2011 Workplace Experiences Survey. This survey is your opportunity to share your experience at the Faculty of Medicine and I encourage you to participate in this process by visiting www.focusonpeople.ubc.ca to take the survey before Friday, November 18, 2011.

The survey asks for your input in various areas, including opportunities for advancement, leadership, and workloads. The survey findings will be used to help inform and identify future priorities and initiatives in Our Strategic Directions, our newly developed strategic plan. The results will also be used to inform our responses to accreditation standards.

All survey responses are anonymous and confidential. Ipsos Reid, a third-party survey consultant in Canada, is administering the survey and generating survey results reports. Based on the response rate, a report for our Faculty, as well as reports for each Department will be available in early 2012, and will be sharing and discussing the results with you.

The University will also use the overall results to help shape future planning and priorities for the outstanding work environment commitment within Place and Promise, UBC’s strategic plan. To find out about the work that has been done based on the 2009 Workplace Experiences Survey findings, such as the establishment of the Postdoctoral Fellows Office in 2010, visit www.focusonpeople.ubc.ca/workplace-experiences-survey/.

The plans and decisions our Faculty and UBC make will rely on the experiences captured in the survey data, so please ensure your voice is heard and take the survey.

Thank you.

Dr. Gavin Stuart Dean, MD, FRCSC
Dean, Faculty of Medicine
Vice-Provost, Health, UBC
