MSFHR/CIHR Science Policy Fellowship

The MSFHR/CIHR Science Policy Fellowship is a wonderful opportunity for an independent researcher or trainee to be embedded within the BC Ministry of Health for six months to develop evidence-based provincial policy and funding options for emergency department services in BC. The program was designed with the goal of establishing and nurturing critical links between policy-makers and external researchers in support of evidence-based public policy.

American Association for Cancer Research – Fight Colorectal Cancer-AACR Career Development Award, in memory of Lisa Dubow

The Fight Colorectal Cancer-AACR Career Development Award, in memory of Lisa Dubow is open to junior faculty who are in the first four years of a faculty appointment at the start of the grant term on July 1, 2012. Research projects are restricted to translational or clinical cancer research that has an ultimate goal of developing or improving therapeutic interventions for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. The award provides $100,000 over two years ($50,000 per year) for direct research expenses, which may include salary and benefits of the grant recipient, postdoctoral or clinical research fellows, and/or research assistants, research/laboratory supplies and equipment.

UBC Library – 2012 Innovative Dissemination of Research Award

Nominations are now open for UBC Library’s 2012 Innovative Dissemination of Research Award. Established by the Library in 2010, the award focuses on new and innovative ways of communicating and disseminating knowledge. The award honors UBC faculty, staff and students who are expanding the boundaries of research through the creative use of new tools and technologies that enhance the research findings being disseminated.
The recipient will be announced at the Celebrate Research Week gala in March 2012. The award includes a $2,000 cash prize and a framed certificate. Nominations are accepted until November 28, 2011.
