Short Biography
Dr. Irfan Khanbhai is a Clinical Associate Professor in the UBC Department of Psychiatry, and since 2019 has served as the Program Director for Postgraduate Education in Psychiatry (Specialty). In this role, he has been responsible for the overall delivery of the program, ensuring that it continues to meet and exceed its objectives per the accreditation standards of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) each year. Dr. Khanbhai also led the program’s successful transition to and implementation of the Competence by Design ( CBD) curriculum as of July 2020. Prior to his current role, he served as the Associate Program Director for the residency track in Vancouver. In addition to his roles in the Department, Dr. Khanbhai is a psychiatrist at Vancouver General Hospital and other VCH sites.
Clinical Focus
Outpatient psychiatry with focus on individual and group therapy with personality disordered patients, as well as patients with refractory psychosis.
