Special Olympics Canada – Research Grant
Deadline: July 5, 2013
Special Olympics Canada is accepting applications for a grant that will support research activities to enhance athlete development, athlete performance, coaching development and/or other areas of focus as identified in the 2012-2017 Special Olympics Canada Strategic Plan. Applicants may request up to $15,000.
UBC’s Vancouver campus is the host venue for the 2014 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games. UBC will welcome more than 2,000 athletes, coaches and spectators from across Canada from July 8-13, 2014. For more information about the grant application, please click on the link above.
LOI Deadline: prior to July 25, 2013
Application Deadline: August 1, 2013
Progress in developing effective Alzheimer’s disease and dementia therapeutics has been hampered by a lack of short-term, sensitive biomarkers that correlate closely to clinical outcomes. The Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF) is partnering with the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS) to issue a challenge grant for the development and validation of biomarkers that meet this unmet need. Higher priority will be given to applications that involve cross-sector or interdisciplinary collaborations and truly novel ideas.
Priority areas for this RFP include:
· Biomarkers of early-disease progression
· Biomarkers related to neurovascular dysfunction
· Biomarkers relevant to disease cell-to-cell transmission and spread of tau pathology
· Dynamic biomarkers with sensitivity to detect short term or immediate changes
$140,000 in funding is available for one-year duration with the possibility of follow-on funding. Applications may be submitted by non-profit academic institutions, worldwide.
3M National Teaching Fellowship Awards – Call for Nominations Internal Deadline: August 2, 2013 |
The Fellowship is open to all individuals currently teaching at a Canadian university, regardless of discipline, level, or term of appointment, and is awarded for demonstrated commitment to university teaching excellence and educational leadership. All UBC nominations should be submitted to the Office of the Vice Provost and Associate Vice President Academic by Friday, August 2, 2013.
