Objectives:
By the end of the presentation, attendees will:
1. Be aware of the prevalence of chronic pain in cognitively impaired and how it changes with increasing dementia.
2. Discuss an approach to assessment of pain in the cognitively impaired.
3. Gain awareness of the literature around empiric trials of analgesics in the cognitively impaired.
4. Learn the best opioids for use in cognitively impaired older adults.
