This message is being sent to all voting members in the Faculty of Medicine on behalf of Dean Gavin Stuart.
Dear Voting Members of the Faculty of Medicine,
Please find the MD Undergraduate Program (MDUP) Renewed Curriculum Senate Proposal here. An electronic vote to approve this will open June 3.
The Proposal was developed by the MD Curriculum Renewal Project Development Committee in consultation with the MD Undergraduate Education Committee (MDUEC) and its sub-committees, including representatives from across the province, students, and enabling functions such as administration, faculty development, and technology.
The MDUEC formally approved the Proposal on May 12 with unanimous support of those present. The MD Undergraduate Regional Executive (MDUREX) unanimously endorsed the Proposal and agreed to bring it forward to Faculty Executive. On May 27, Faculty Executive unanimously approved the Proposal.
With the Faculty of Medicine’s approval, we will submit the Proposal to UBC Senate in August for formal decision by October. With Senate’s approval, we will initiate the renewed MD Program in August, 2015.
The Proposal follows a standard Senate format and is not intended to contain full implementation details. It provides sufficient detail about all four years of the renewed MDUP for Senate to validate and allow us to admit students. The MD Curriculum Renewal Project Development Committee has initiated the detailed development phase for the first year of the renewed MD program.
Thank you in advance for your support. You will receive another email on June 3 indicating that the vote is open. If you have any questions, please contact the Curriculum Renewal team at firstname.lastname@example.org or via the website: http://cr.med.ubc.ca/.
