Excavation begins in front of Emergency
In preparation for the construction of the new Teck Acute Care Centre, the contractors will be installing five new manholes which will require them to fence off part of the area outside of the BC Children’s Emergency Department. The work is expected to begin this week and will take approximately 10 working days.

Demolition of Shaughnessy A Wing begins this week
Work to physically separate Shaughnessy A and B Wings is now complete. Contractors are scheduled to begin ‘nibbling’ away Shaughnessy A wing on Wednesday, August 20.
The Women’s Health Research Institute recently announced the appointment of Nicole Prestley as the Research Program Manager for the Ambulatory Program and Arezu Moshrefzadeh as the Research Program Manager for the Acute Perinatal Program.
CFRI Clinical Investigator Dr. Caron Strahlendorf has been appointed the new Head of the Division of Pediatric Hematology / Oncology / Bone Marrow Transplantation for BC Children’s Hospital and the UBC Department of Pediatrics.
In addition to her role at CFRI, Dr. Strahlendorf is a Pediatric Oncologist and Hematologist at BC Children’s and Clinical Associate Professor with the UBC Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Strahlendorf starts this new role on September 1, 2014.
Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Announcement
CFRI Clinical Investigator Dr. Deborah McFadden has accepted the position of Head, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine effective September 1, 2014.
Dr. McFadden is a Pathologist with the Department of Pathology at BC Children’s Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre, and a Clinical Professor with the UBC Department of Pathology.
