Postdoctoral Research Fellow

The UBC Department of Psychiatry is inviting eligible candidates to apply for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in reproductive mental health. Our multidisciplinary research team is comprised of researchers with expertise in perinatal epidemiology and mental health, child development, and biostatistics. The successful applicant will work closely with the team leader (Dr. Nichole Fairbrother, Department of Psychiatry, UBC), and the rest of the study team.The fellow will play an important role in advancing research in the area of maternal perinatal mental health. Specifically, he/she will aid in two, multi-year, inter-related studies of maternal perinatal mental health: (a) new mothers’ thoughts of infant-related harm and their relation to obsessive compulsive disorder and child harm, and (b) a study of perinatal anxiety and related disorder epidemiology. Both arms of this research represent the most comprehensive studies of these topics conducted to date. The research is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. The fellow will participate in project and study team management, data collection and analysis activities, manuscript preparation and knowledge translation activities, and training and supervision of project interviewers in the administration and scoring of mental health interviews (e.g., the SCID-5).Applicants will have a PhD in Clinical Psychology or related field and a strong interest in perinatal health and/or perinatal mental health. Ideally, the applicant will also have training and expertise in cognitive behavioural approaches to anxiety and related disorders, and diagnostic interviewing

The anticipated start date is November 1, 2014. This is a one year appointment subject to annual renewal. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position will operate out of the Child and Family Research Institute at the BC Women’s and Children’s Hospital Campus, Vancouver BC.
