Dr. Kishore Mulpuri learns from orthopedic experts in Australia and New Zealand
In April and May, Dr. Kishore Mulpuri travelled to two continents to meet leading orthopedic surgeons and researchers with the American-British-Canadian (ABC) Travelling Fellowship from the American Orthopaedic Association. These fellowships give young leaders in orthopedic surgery the opportunity to connect with international experts and engage with critical issues currently facing the field.
After visiting hospitals and research institutions across the United Kingdom, Dr. Mulpuri and the other fellows continued to Australia and New Zealand to learn more about the latest techniques and developments in orthopedic surgery.

Happy retirement to Carol LaJeunesse and Arlene Kallos
Carol LaJeunesse and Arlene Kallos, two exceptional nurse leaders at the Vaccine Evaluation Center (VEC), are retiring in June. They have both spent over twenty-five years at UBC/CFRI and have won awards for their outstanding contributions to the VEC. They will be missed but leave a strong team as their legacy.

New CFRI research structure & strategic planning update
In April, CFRI Executive Director, Dr. Wyeth Wasserman, announced CFRI’s new research structure. Over the next year, CFRI is transitioning to four research Themes, with research Groups being formed within each Theme. The Themes are currently engaged in facilitated sessions to produce a 5-year strategic plan. The new research structure and strategic planning process will support CFRI’s aim to be one of the top research institutes in North America dedicated to child and family health research.
