I am pleased to advise of several recent appointments updates in the Education portfolio:
Centre for Health Education Scholarship
Recruitment is currently underway for the Director, Centre for Health Education Scholarship. This follows the extraordinary leadership Dr. Joanna Bates, founding director, who completes her term on June 30, 2015. I look forward to sharing an update with you in the near future.
Continuing Professional Development
Dr. Bob Bluman has been appointed Acting Associate Dean, Continuing Professional Development, effective August 1, 2015 while Dr. Brenna Lynn is on maternity leave. Dr. Bluman will provide interim leadership and support for the professional development of faculty and collaborate with stakeholders to explore opportunities for continuing professional development.
Education Program & Services
Recruitment is currently underway for the Senior Director, Education Program & Services position. This role follows the Executive Director, Education and Strategic Projects position held by Jane Eibner before her retirement earlier this year.
Evaluation Studies Unit
Derek Wilson, currently Associate Director has been appointed Interim Director, Evaluation Studies Unit, effective July 1, 2015 to September 30, 2015. This follows the strong leadership of Dr. Chris Lovato who completes her term on June 30, 2015.
Recruitment is underway for the role of Assistant Dean, Faculty Development previously held by Dr. Sandra Jarvis-Selinger. Katherine Wisener, Program Manager in the Faculty Development Office has been appointed Interim Director effective June 1, 2015 during the search process.
MD Undergraduate Program – IMP
Dr. Adrian Yee has been extended as Assistant Dean, Island Medical Program to August 31, 2015 to provide continued leadership for the program during the search process currently underway.
Student Affairs – NMP
Dr. Leila Hunsinger-Chang has been reappointed as Assistant Dean, Student Affairs, Northern Medical Program effective July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2018. Dr. Hunsinger-Chang will continue to ensure personal and academic support for NMP students during all four years of the program.
Student Affairs – SMP
As previously announced, Dr. Melanie Reed began her appointment as Assistant Dean, Student Affairs, Southern Medical Program, effective June 1, 2015. Dr. Reed is working alongside Dr. Connie Hull who will continue in her role until August 1, 2015.
Student Affairs – VFMP
Dr. Carol-Ann Courneya and Dr. Christina Roston have been reappointed Assistant Dean, Student Affairs, Vancouver Fraser Medical Program effective July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2018. Drs. Courneya and Roston will continue to work together to ensure student support services are available to VFMP students.
