Presidential Search Update
If you are a manager of staff whose work is not computer-based, please print this email and display it in a common work area for them to review.
On December 2, 2015 the Presidential Search Committee held its second meeting, and was joined for the first time by our search firm consultant Perrett Laver. We received an important presentation by Dr. Sara-Jane Finlay, UBC Associate Vice President of Equity and Inclusion, about the importance of embedding diversity, in its broadest sense, into the search process.
The committee discussed the search timeline, best practices, and communication strategy. The committee also had a very preliminary discussion on the presidential position profile, which will be finalized after we have received stakeholder input. As consultation with UBC stakeholders is critical, the committee reviewed in detail the list of UBC community and other stakeholders from whom we will seek feedback in January with a view to finalizing the profile by the beginning of February.
Public town halls will be held on the Vancouver campus (Wednesday, January 13, from 11: 45 am – 1:00 pm) and the Okanagan campus (Thursday, January 14, from 11:45 am – 1:00 pm). Formal meeting notices for the town halls will be sent out on January 5, 2016, and I encourage everyone to attend.
Once finalized and approved by the Board of Governors, the presidential position profile will be distributed via broadcast email as well as published on this website.
In the meantime, I encourage you to submit your comments in confidence to the search committee via the website http://bog.ubc.ca/?page_id=10215 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Best regards and happy holidays!
Chair, Presidential Search Committee
