I am pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Susan Paul as Director, Clinical Faculty Affairs effective January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2018.
Ms. Paul is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy. After completing her degree in Physical Therapy at Queen’s University, she worked as a Physical Therapist in Ontario and British Columbia before joining the UBC Department of Physical Therapy in 2005. Since 2002, she has worked as the Practice Advisor for the College of Physical Therapists of BC, and is currently in an interim position as Complaints and Discipline Coordinator at the College. She is also the College representative on the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Physical Therapy – Provincial Advisors for Clinical Education Committee. Ms. Paul practices as a Physiotherapist in the Fraser Health Authority.
As Director, Clinical Faculty Affairs, Ms. Paul will facilitate two-way communication and understanding between clinical faculty of all disciplines and the Faculty of Medicine. She will promote clinical faculty development and initiatives in teaching and scholarly activity, educational leadership and research, as well as encourage participation of clinical faculty in the administration and operation of the Faculty and its Departments, throughout sites across the province. Exploring additional methods to recognize, support and mentor clinical faculty members will also be important aspects of Ms. Paul’s activities in this role.
Ms. Paul’s appointment follows the leadership of Dr. Michael Nimmo who completed his term as Director, Clinical Faculty Affairs on December 31, 2015. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Nimmo for the leadership and support he has provided in the role since 2009.
Please join me in welcoming Ms. Paul to her new appointment.
