Renfrew House helps youth transition into adulthood
In December, The Globe and Mail published a feature on Renfrew House, a six-bedroom home in East Vancouver that serves as a safe landing for homeless or vulnerably housed youth aged 18 to 24. In the article, CHÉOS Scientist Dr. Steve Mathias, lead of the Inner City Youth Program which encompasses Renfrew House, talks about the impact of housing on this group of youth.

The 6th Annual PHC Research Challenge is an annual competition open to front-line PHC staff. Teams have the opportunity to work with a mentor to develop a research proposal around a research question, learn basic research skills, and compete with other teams for funding to conduct a small-scale research project. Call for abstracts: Heart + Lung FEST
Students of all levels are invited to submit poster abstracts for this year’s Heart + Lung FEST 2016 Scientific Symposium, which takes place on February 11 and 12 in Vancouver. The deadline to submit abstracts is January 15, 2016.

Please join us in welcoming Jes Hovanes and Kristen Hayden! Ms. Hovanes joins the CTN as their new Communications and Social Media Officer. She has an educational background in Journalism and English, and her experience includes working for election campaigns and editing at The Tyee and Langara Voice.
Ms. Hayden joins CHÉOS and the CTN as the new Executive and Research Assistant for Centre Director Dr. Aslam Anis, after Melinda Marshall’s departure earlier this month. A Molecular Biology major and Business minor graduate from the University of Victoria, Ms. Hayden’s work experience includes various administrative, marketing, and communications roles at the Canadian Cancer Society. Welcome, Jes and Kristen!
