Creating a trauma-informed curriculum
Thanks to the collaboration of CHÉOS investigators, health care providers now have more tools available to use when working with expecting and new mothers with substance use issues and their children.
CHÉOS Scientists Drs. Iris Torchalla and Verena Strehlau created a series of workshops for staff at Sheway. This Downtown Eastside program offers social and medical services as well as other supportive services for pregnant women and new mothers, including prenatal and postnatal care, addiction counselling, methadone maintenance treatment, parenting classes, and First Nation-specific services.
The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) is calling for proposals for their 2017 Innovation Fund competition. The CFI seeks to support promising and innovative research or technology development in areas where Canada currently is, or has the potential to be, competitive on the global stage.
