Teaching Opportunities in FLEX – MEDD 419 (Yr 1) and MEDD 429 (Yr 2)

SENT ON BEHALF OF DRS. DAWN COOPER AND RICHARD LAZENBY, MEDD 419 COURSE CO-DIRECTORS

I am writing to you on behalf of Dr. Dawn Cooper and Dr. Richard Lazenby in regard to the upcoming 2016/2017 academic year to invite you to apply for one or more positions in the FLEX courses that will be running in Year 1 (MEDD 419) and Year 2 (MEDD 429) of UBC’s distributed medical program.   FLEX offers medical undergraduate students unique opportunities to pursue a variety of scholarly activities and research opportunities.

In 2015/2016 (the inaugural year of FLEX), MEDD 419 saw over 250 students successfully engage in one or more activities, working with various UBC faculty on research projects, engaging with community agencies (both local and international) and pursuing many other exciting opportunities.

Some of you may already be familiar with FLEX because you have been engaged as an Activity Supervisor working with students in an activity you either sponsored or for which you were recruited by the students.  For Faculty interested in other forms of teaching, there are opportunities to facilitate journal club sessions or serve as FLEX advisors (scholarship advisors) to a small group of students. The attached FLEX Position Descriptions document (and accompanying application form) provides you with more information about all the exciting teaching opportunities in FLEX.

We kindly ask that you please review both these documents and, if interested, please do the following by no later than June 20, 2016:

Please email the following to Niki Giannopoulos, FLEX Manager, VFMP, at niki.giannopoulos@ubc.ca:

  • A short cover letter
  • Your CV
  • The completed Application Form (see second attachment)

All applications will be reviewed by Drs. Dawn Cooper and Richard Lazenby.

We hope you will apply!

Niki Giannopoulos

Manager, VFMP, FLEX
