Hurlburt Auditorium, St. Paul’s Hospital
Abstract: Depression is increasingly becoming the leading cause of disability worldwide. While effective treatments like psychological or antidepressant therapies are available, concerns persist around disparities in care and individuals not receiving the minimum threshold of treatment, as these can adversely affect mental health outcomes.
In this presentation, Dr. Puyat will share findings from his most recent research regarding the estimated magnitude of the depression treatment gap in Canada and British Columbia. He will also discuss the results of his study looking at the impact of physician incentives that were introduced in 2008 to improve the delivery of mental health care in the primary care setting.
