Effective November 10, 2016, citizens from visa-exempt countries (except for the United States) will require an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) when flying to Canada.
This new entry requirement may have implications on dual Canadian citizens, international students and temporary workers, as well as Canadian permanent residents and US permanent residents. If you fall into any of these categories, please review the CIC eTA website carefully to ensure you can fly to Canada after November 9 without disruption, canada.ca/eta. (Note: You do not need an eTA when entering Canada by land or sea.)
To view the list of countries for which the eTA applies, visit www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas-all.asp.
Faculty or staff members with further questions on this issue or other immigration matters are encouraged to contact our immigration advisor at Faculty Staff Housing & Relocation Services through immigration.help@ubc.ca.
Please note that students have also received separate notification about this new entry requirement and have been encouraged to direct their questions to International Student Development (Vancouver) at isa@students.ubc.ca or International Programs and Services (Okanagan) at ips.ubco@ubc.ca.
Thank you.
