The installation of Professor Santa J. Ono as 15th President and Vice-Chancellor of UBC will take place on Tuesday, November 22 at Pt Grey Campus and the majority of the events will be open to all members of the UBC community. The UBC Okanagan campus community will have the opportunity to welcome the President at future events.
Breakfast with the President – by invitation
7:00-9:00 a.m.
There will be a breakfast with Professor Santa J. Ono for a randomly selected group of UBC students, faculty and staff who registered for the lottery by Friday October 14. On October 17, the Ceremonies and Events Office selected 45 successful candidates who will be contacted by the end of October. Only those selected will be contacted.
Installation Ceremony
10:00–11:30 a.m. The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts
The Installation Ceremony will be a lively and entertaining event to welcome Professor Santa J. Ono. It will feature musical performances, special guest speakers and the Oath of Office, presented by Her Honour, The Honourable Judith Guichon, OBC, Lieutenant-Governor of Britsh Columbia.

Installation Lunch – invitation only
12:30–2:00 p.m. The Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre
There will be a private luncheon for special guests and out of town visitors.
Celebrating Discovery: Four Visionary Thinkers
A Forum hosted by Professor Santa J. Ono
3:00–5:00 p.m. Old Auditorium
Visionary thinkers help drive new discoveries which impact the world in revolutionary ways. Join newly installed UBC President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Santa J. Ono, as he interacts with four North American thought leaders in the areas of brain health, robotics, music and mathematics.
