Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that we announce the approval, by the B.C. Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training, of our new undergraduate program in biomedical engineering.

The new Bachelor of Applied Science in Biomedical Engineering serves as a foundation for this exciting new collaboration between our Faculties, and represents an important component of the newly created School of Biomedical Engineering.

Through the new undergraduate program, led by Professor Peter Cripton, Program Director, students will gain the fundamental knowledge, critical thinking tools and practical skills needed to support the growing needs of the life science and medical device industry in British Columbia and Canada, and will educate the health discovery and innovation leaders of tomorrow.

We would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to the Government of British Columbia for its vision, and thank all of the individuals who have contributed to the development of the curriculum, through consultation and providing feedback.

Sincerely,

Dermot Kelleher, MD, FRCP, FRCPI, FMedSci
