Actuarial Valuation Results
The UBC Staff Pension Plan (SPP) recently underwent a financial check-up called an Actuarial Valuation. This check-up evaluates the present financial status of the SPP; assesses the ability of the SPP to pay pension benefits over the long term; satisfies regulatory requirements, and determines the level of indexing that the SPP can afford to pay on pensions. Increase in employer contribution
There has been an increase made to the employer contribution to the SPP. This increase in contributions enhances the security of the pension benefits to ensure that the SPP is financially sustainable for the long-term. The employee contribution rate remains unchanged.
