Dear Clinical Faculty,
After a very successful first year, the Department of Psychiatry is excited to announce that the 2nd annual Psychiatry Summer Immersion Program will take place Mon June 10- Wed June 12, 2019. The 3-day program provides an opportunity for 1st Year undergraduate medical students to explore the field of psychiatry as a potential career option through engagement with psychiatrists and psychiatry residents. Each day consists of half-day interactive sessions, and half-day clinical observership (shadowing) placements.
We are currently recruiting psychiatrists to provide shadowing opportunities in a variety of settings (inpatient, outpatient, community, etc.), with the goal to provide diverse insight in adult, geriatric, child & adolescent, forensic, neuropsychiatry, CL, addiction, reproductive mental health or other areas. Shadowing will take place throughout Metro Vancouver and at participating distributed sites. Clinicians will be matched to one or two students per shadowing session. Students may also attend rounds, etc.
Remuneration: $90/shadowing session with one student, or $110/shadowing session with two students (equal to current rate for clinical teaching sessions for undergraduate students)
