Apologies for the additional email – for clarification, the default ICR rate for clinical trials remains at 30% regardless of funding source.
The ICR rate for all other types of industry-sponsored research is 40% of direct costs.

To align with the rest of UBC and other major universities across Canada, the Faculty of Medicine’s Indirect Costs of Research (ICR) rate for industry funded research is 40% of all direct costs, effective April 1, 2019. All industry-funded projects initiated prior to April 1, 2019 may continue to recover indirect costs at their previously negotiated rate.
If you have any questions regarding ICR rates, please contact Bryan Wong (firstname.lastname@example.org).
