I am delighted to announce that Dr. Evelyn Stewart has been promoted to the rank of Professor in the UBC Department of Psychiatry, effective July 1, 2019.
Dr. Stewart obtained her MD from Dalhousie University in 1996, then completed her residency in psychiatry at the University of Ottawa in 2002. She spent the following year as a research fellow at Harvard University, where she was subsequently appointed as an Instructor in 2005, then as an Assistant Professor in 2007. In 2010, she accepted a full-time academic faculty position in the UBC Department of Psychiatry at the rank of Associate Professor.
Dr. Stewart is a clinician scientist and an internationally recognized expert on Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders (OCRDs). As founding director of the UBC-Pediatric OCD Program at BC Children’s Hospital since 2011, her primary research focus has been to advance understanding and improve outcomes for OCRDs across the lifespan, the results of which have been integrated into the assessment and treatment of patients. In 2018 Dr. Stewart received one of the two annual UBC FoM Distinguished Achievement Awards for Excellence in recognition of significant and outstanding contributions to clinical and applied research. With her current and ongoing clinical, genetic, imaging and cognitive studies focused on OCD-affected and at-risk siblings, Dr. Stewart and her team are laying essential groundwork for longitudinal follow-up studies in the future.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Stewart on this milestone in her academic career and wishing her continued success in the future!
