Dear Department Members,
As we embark on the process to develop a Strategic Plan for the Department of Psychiatry, I am pleased to share the Department’s proposed strategic pillars of Research, Education, Partnerships, and People, which will be closely aligned with the 2016-2021 Strategic Plan of the UBC Faculty of Medicine. In order to implement a comprehensive and inclusive strategic planning strategy based around these four pillars, we welcome the participation of faculty, staff, and students from all over BC. Your engagement will be not only important, but vital, to its success.
We have developed a Department-wide survey as a means to gather your ideas, feedback and concerns with respect to the four strategic pillars and the future direction of the Department. The Strategic Planning Survey (click here), comprised of approximately 20 multiple-choice or open-ended questions, may be completed anonymously and will take 30-45 minutes from start to finish. The survey will close at 11:59pm on Friday October 4, 2019. There is no obligation to answer all of the questions, however I strongly encourage you to participate to the best of your ability and ask that you take the time to answer each question thoughtfully, thoroughly, and candidly. The information and feedback collected from this survey will serve as a valuable resource in our strategic planning process.
Following collection and evaluation of the survey results, the Associate Heads and I will host a series of in-person Strategic Planning Sessions at various sites across the province. We have enlisted the expertise of corporate and governance strategist Glenn Wong (https://www.liftpartners.ca/board-of-directors/glenn-wong/), who will oversee the facilitation of these sessions. We invite faculty, staff and students to join us in these important sessions, as your participation will be instrumental in developing a Strategic Plan which will broadly encompass the interests and priorities of our Department members province-wide. These sessions will provide a unique opportunity for face-to-face discussions on a broad range of topics and issues that will have an impact on our Department over the next few years.
