It is with mixed feelings that we announce that, after 36 years as an outstanding member of our academic faculty, Professor Steven Vincent will retire as of December 31, 2019. As one of our longest serving Department members, Dr. Vincent held a number of important leadership roles over the years, including serving as Chair of the Graduate Program in Neuroscience, as Head of the Division of Basic Neuroscience, and as a valued member of the UBC Senior Appointments Committee. He is an ISI Highly Cited Researcher, and also previously held the Louis Brown Chair in Neuroscience. His prominence in the field was due to many important findings he and his research team uncovered with respect to nitric oxide and cyclic GMP signaling in the nervous system, as well as RING finger proteins, ubiquitinylation and neural function.
While all of his students and colleagues will miss his presence here at UBC, we hope Dr. Vincent enjoys retirement and wish him all the best in the future!
