Psychiatry Space Review

Dear Department Members,

Over the next several months, the UBC Department of Psychiatry will be working in collaboration with UBC Facilities and UBC Faculty of Medicine to conduct a review of the Department of Psychiatry administrative and research spaces on the UBC Vancouver Campus and Diamond Health Care Centre sites. This collaborative review will be vital in informing plans and decision making for the future, and will assure that they align with the strategic priorities of the Department.

Information gathering sessions will be scheduled for May 2020, and will continue throughout June 2020. The review team will be reaching out to schedule these meetings with you shortly. These sessions will take place online through Skype or Zoom meetings. Site visits will be determined at a later date.

The primary objectives of a comprehensive review are to:

  • Assess whether space is utilized in an effective and efficient manner in alignment with the research, teaching and clinical programmatic needs, and UBC Faculty of Medicine and Department of Psychiatry strategic directions.
  • Provide recommendations, opportunities and options to optimize space utilization, address outstanding requirements, and improve collaboration between faculty, staff, research participants, and students.
  • Align allocation and utilization of space with UBC Faculty of Medicine space policies.
  • Inform strategic planning and decision making on future faculty hires, space allocations and facilities planning & management.

We will be sending out a template for information gathering about your current space usage. We ask that you complete the template prior to our meetings.
