This week, Department Head Dr. Lakshmi Yatham and Dr. Andrew Clarke, Executive Director of the Physician Health Program, spoke with CTV News about the collaboration between UBC Psychiatry and the Physician Health Program, a service funded by Doctors of BC and the Ministry of Health, to increase capacity and support by providing virtual mental health consultation for physicians, given an anticipated increase in demand for mental health care for frontline physicians dealing with increased stress and anxiety due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The story also acknowledges the fantastic response the Department has received from our faculty members, many of whom swiftly answered the call to volunteer their services. The Physician Health Program is now getting in touch with each of them to coordinate a plan moving forward. A sincere thanks goes out to everyone who offered their help and support during these challenging times.
