Dear Department Faculty,

You are invited to participate in an upcoming virtual workshop titled “Coaching Cases Virtually for Clinical Reasoning” to be offered on Wednesday July 29, 2020 from 12:00 to 1:15pm.

About this workshop:

In this workshop, you will learn the best practices for using cases to teach clinical reasoning over videoconference. Cases can be used for teaching in various settings (e.g., academic half-days, post clinic/ward rounds, M&M rounds) and as many move to a virtual space, come learn about how to design your session for optimal engagement.

This workshop is for faculty who are considering to teach with cases in the Postgraduate Medical Education and Health Professions programs, and others who want to learn.

Date: July 29, 12-1:15pm

Facilitators: Dr. Kyla Hildebrand, Sharon Doucet

Location: Zoom (link will be emailed)

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Design clinical case teaching sessions for multiple levels of learners
  • Determine whether learning should be asynchronous or synchronous
  • Use appropriate virtual tools for learning clinical reasoning
  • Maintain patient confidentiality during case presentations

For more information about the facilitators, please see the workshop flyer.
