Quality Improvement & Patient Safety Project Advisory Group – Psychiatry Rep

**Sent on behalf of Dr. Irfan Khanbhai, Acting PGE Program Director, UBC Department of Psychiatry**

Dear Faculty,

A directive in recent years in medical education from the Royal College is focussed on improving how we train our residents in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety.  To this end, the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (QIPS) Project Advisory Group has been set up by the PGME office, the purpose of which is to provide input, expertise, and guidance to the QIPS Project Team responsible for development of QIPS Postgraduate Medical Education curriculum and QIPS resources for Residents and Faculty.  The QIPS Advisory Group is composed of faculty, staff, and learners representing a range of departments, locations, and interests related to Quality Improvement and Patient Safety.

Each specialty has a member on this group whose role it is to provide input, expertise and guidance on context, content and delivery to the Project Leads, attend Advisory Group meetings or provide input through email and review meeting minutes for accuracy.  To date, Dr. Leona Adams has been Psychiatry’s representative on this group, but she has decided to step down from this position.  We would like to thank her for her exemplary work in this capacity.

I am looking for any faculty interested in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety to send me an expression of interest by email at irfan.khanbhai@ubc.ca to take on this role going forward until project completion in January 2021.  I have attached the terms of reference for this Group for your review.

Please let me know by Friday August 28, 2020 and thank you so much for your consideration.

Best regards,

Dr. Irfan Khanbhai MD, FRCPC
Clinical Associate Professor
Acting Program Director
UBC Psychiatry Postgraduate Education Program
