CALL FOR ABSTRACTS for 2020 UBC Psychiatry Virtual Research Day

Dear Department Members,

Following the postponement of the originally-scheduled Research Day due to COVID-19 disruptions, we are looking forward to the upcoming 2020 UBC Psychiatry Virtual Research Day to be held online via Zoom on Thursday October 15th, 2020!

The Department’s first ever virtual Research Day event will showcase all the exciting research being conducted across the UBC Department of Psychiatry, and will provide an opportunity for Department members to listen, learn, network, and connect with one another across sites, disciplines and experience levels.


At this time, we invite faculty, residents, fellows, students and trainees who wish to present their work on Research Day to submit their abstracts using the online Abstract Submission Form by Friday September 11th.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

  • Go to the online Abstract Submission Form and upload a copy of your abstract as a single PDF file by September 11th
  • Your abstract must include a descriptive title, and all authors and their affiliated institutions
  • The body of your abstract should not exceed 250 words, and should include:
    • Research Objectives
    • Methods
    • Results
    • Conclusions


Participants must also submit their electronic posters in PowerPoint format to Lilla Berry at by Wednesday September 30th.

ePoster Submission Guidelines

  • Your electronic poster must be in PowerPoint, for presentation on the online poster gallery and voting
  • Please send your ePoster to Lilla Berry at by September 30th. If you have a brief audio file you would like to include, please also submit this with your ePoster. Further information and instructions regarding audio files will be posted soon on the UBC Psychiatry Research Day web page.
  • If you want to learn more about how to best present your ePoster online, be sure to register here for the “Online Poster Presentations: What, How, Why?” webinar on Thursday September 10th @ 2-3:30pm, hosted by the BC Support Unit.


  • Lighting Talk Presentations are short 5-minute presentations (usually 3.5 minutes of speaking, plus 1.5 minutes for questions). Click here to learn more.
  • Please indicate on the Abstract Submission Form if, in addition to presenting an ePoster, you wish to be considered to present a Lightning Talk during our Virtual Research Day.
  • If selected for a Lightning Talk Presentation, the presenter must also prepare a brief PowerPoint presentation with a maximum of 5 slides. Please submit Lightning Talk slides to by the September 30th deadline.
