NEW PUBLICATION: Dr. Daniel Vigo and Laura Jones are Lead Authors on WHO/PAHO Country Level Reports on the Burden of Mental Illness in the Americas

Dr. Daniel Vigo and medical student/research assistant Laura Jones are the lead authors on a new report launched by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), titled The Burden of Mental Disorders in the Region of the Americas, 2018.

This report aims to improve the assessment of mental health needs in the Americas by providing an updated and nuanced picture of 1) the disability resulting from mental, substance use, and specific neurological disorders, plus self-harm, alone and in combination with premature mortality, 2) the imbalance between mental health spending and its related disease burden, and 3) the inadequate allocation of the meager mental health spending by countries of the Region.
