CME Accredited Opioid Course for Specialists

***Shared on Behalf of Dr. Irfan Khanbhai, Acting PGE Program Director, UBC Department of Psychiatry***

Dear Faculty,

I would like to bring your to attention a FREE online course that I developed with funding from Health Canada to improve opioid prescribing by specialists.

This course is accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Section 3, Specialists 3 credits/hour) and the College of Family Physicians of Canada (Main Pro+ Family Physicians 1 credit/hour).

The Online Opioid Self-Assessment Program is easily accessible, highly interactive and uses assessment as a technique for knowledge exchange and guideline implementation using the most up-to-date tools and resources. In order to facilitate active learning, a variety of techniques are employed, including videos, case presentations and an assortment of question types to keep you engaged and apply it in practice. In the past year, we have had 500 participants enroll in the course, with many medical and nurse practitioner students completing the course with great feedback.

I developed this interactive course with other colleagues in physiatry, family medicine and addictions medicine at University Health Network. This course is based on the updated 2017 Canadian Opioid Guideline.

Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.
