To Clinical Faculty: Competency on Foundation Stage EPAs

**Sent on behalf of Dr. Irfan Khanbhai, Acting PGE Program Director, Department of Psychiatry**

Dear Clinical Faculty involved in teaching our PGY1s,

First of all, I wanted to thank you all for your efforts and dedication to all our residents and especially to our PGY1 cohort. It is with our PGY1s that you are having to learn some of the new CBD curriculum and complete work based assessments to help the residents achieve competency and achievement with their Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs).

The PGY1s are now in their Foundations Stage of the CBD curriculum and either have or will be approaching you about doing assessments with these EPAs.  Please feel free to complete these assessments, but our Competence Committee has given guidance that you should be considering the resident entrustable (score 5/5) if they are at the level of a competent PGY2 resident.  As per usual, all written and verbal feedback should be specific and actionable so that the resident will be aware of their strengths and limitations and can work on them accordingly.

If you need any further information on CBD, the EPAs, the new training requirements document or wish to watch any of the workshops that I conducted earlier in the year, then please log into Entrada, go to your dashboard, ensure the left side bar is open and you will see a link to Psychiatry CBD Resources.

Thanks for your support and best regards,

Dr. Irfan Khanbhai MD, FRCPC
