Faculty Members Invited to Participate in the Virtual Cup of Coffee Program!

*** Sent on behalf of Dr. Kathryn Fung, Program Director, Undergraduate Psychiatry Medical Education ***

Dear Faculty,

Please find attached an invitation to the participate in the Virtual Cup of Coffee Program, created by Student Affairs as a way for students to connect with clinicians without shadowing, as shadowing was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Participation involves a 45-minute virtual session between students and clinicians over Zoom. Physicians will speak with a group of students, between 3 to max 8, and no preparation on the part of the physician is required. Student Affairs organizes the sessions and sets up the times directly with the faculty member.

There is high demand for these sessions, and students rate the program highly as providing information to help guide their career planning process. Physicians at the sessions are able to speak frankly and share pros and cons of their profession in a non-clinical setting.

The attached invite provides more details, and a link to the sign-up form. Questions may be directed to Students Affairs (robin.ryan@ubc.ca).

Thank you,

Kathryn Fung, MD FRCPC
