Dear Clinical Faculty and Residents,
We had been planning a Cultural Psychiatry Day for residents and found out that the Society for the Study of Psychiatry and Culture will be presenting a national webinar around the same time. As a result, we have cancelled our educational day and have asked that residents attend the Webinar conference. I am letting you know that they have protected time to attend given the importance of the topic and so, please excuse them from their clinical duties for that block of time.
I would also encourage as many of you to attend as the issues are so salient in our current climate. The information is as noted below:
The national cultural psychiatry day webinar will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 10:30AM PST – 1:30PM PST. The topic will be on racialized identities, racism, and disparities in psychiatry. For faculty and residents who are interested in attending, they can complete the following RSVP form. The zoom link will be forwarded to them prior to the event. The pre-webinar lived experience videos can be viewed 1-2 weeks prior to the conference day on the Society for the Study of Psychiatry and Culture (SSPC) website (https://psychiatryandculture.org).
Thank you for your consideration of this matter and best regards,
Dr. Irfan Khanbhai MD, FRCPC
