Guest Speaker Dr. Annie Ciernia to Present at UBC Psychiatry’s 2021 Virtual Research Day

We are pleased to share that Dr. Annie Ciernia, Assistant Professor in the UBC Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, will join our panel speakers and will present on “The role of neuroinflammation in development and mental health” at our Department’s 2021 Virtual Research Day on Thursday June 3, 2021!

Dr. Ciernia’s research focuses on understanding epigenetic mechanisms of transcriptional regulation involved in brain plasticity and neurodevelopmental disorders. Her lab combines experimental and computational approaches to understand how epigenetic mechanisms regulate gene expression across our lifespan, specifically focusing on mechanisms of epigenetic regulation in multiple brain cell populations across normal brain and immune system development and in rodent models of neurodevelopmental disorders.

Stay tuned for further announcements about our Virtual Research Day presenters – coming soon!
