VCH Clinical Faculty Invited to Participate in Survey on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) competencies

Dr Anupam Thakur, a psychiatrist and chair of the Developmental Disability division of the Canadian Psychiatric Association, is leading a study aimed at surveying the education and level of experience on Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD), and knowledge and attitudes on IDD of practicing psychiatrists. The study is titled “Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) competencies of practicing psychiatrists in Canada: A needs assessment study,” the results of which will inform the development of Continuing Professional Development training and educational initiatives.

UBC Psychiatry clinical faculty members working within Vancouver Coastal Health are invited to participate in this survey. There are no risks foreseen from participation in this project, and there are no specific exclusion criteria. Your participation will involve answering some questions about the education on IDD, level of experience with IDD, and knowledge and attitudes on IDD. The survey should take about 20 minutes to complete and will be conducted electronically via RedCAP. With regard to benefits, there will be no direct compensation for participants, however, results from this study will inform further curriculum development for CPD modules.
