Dear Department Members,
We encourage you to consider nominating your colleagues for the 2026 SSHRC Impact Awards (expected deadline April 1, 2026).
These awards recognize outstanding researchers and celebrate their research achievements, research training, knowledge mobilization and outreach activities and are funded partially or entirely by SSHRC. UBC is limited to one nominee per award category (Gold Medal, Insight, Connection and Partnership) so the VPRI will coordinate an internal selection process. Self-nominations are not permitted.
Based on feedback from the UBC Social Sciences and Humanities community, we are moving up the internal selection deadline this year. To nominate a colleague for internal selection, please complete the SSHRC Impact Awards Selection Form (which includes a 2-page rationale and the nominee’s UBC CV) by November 17, 2025.
Departments, divisions, institutes, schools and faculties are strongly encouraged to embed equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) considerations in their nomination strategies.
