Invitation to participate in library survey from Lea Starr, Associate University Librarian, Research Services & Dr Amil Shah, Assistant Dean, Vancouver Fraser Medical Program

This message has been sent to all faculty members, Department Heads, School Directors, Centre Directors, Department, School & Centre Administrators, Assistants & Communicators, MD undergraduate students and residents.

Dear Colleagues,

UBC Library is embarking on a program of reorganization and consolidation, in part in response to our need to move to a balanced budget by 2014. This has escalated our work around the deployment of our collections and services in light of the significant changes occurring in scholarly communications. All areas of the UBC Library are impacted by these changes.

In the Life Sciences Libraries, we are reviewing how we provide services at both St. Paul’s Library in St. Paul’s Hospital and Hamber Library in Children’s and Women’s Hospital.  A small team of UBC Library librarians and Faculty of Medicine faculty are developing proposals for new service models.  We want to design these to meet our users’ needs.  We are gaining input from our users through this survey and focus groups.  These will allow us to better understand your needs and to come up with a model that will best serve the libraries users both now and into the future.

We hope that you will take a few minutes of your time to complete this important survey – https://www.surveyfeedback.ca/surveys/wsb.dll/s/1g1ce1.  It should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. Please forward the survey link to interested parties we might have overlooked and feel free to contact lea.starr@ubc.ca with any questions.

Thank you very much for participating.

Kind Regards,

Lea Starr                                                                                                                              Dr Amil Shah
