UBC and United Way of the Lower Mainland have a long-standing partnership focused on improving the communities in which we live and work. In addition to outstanding research collaborations, an important piece of this partnership is the personal generosity of UBC staff and faculty.
Our community needs our help: BC has the highest national child-poverty for the 8th year in a row, 40% of children in middle-school experience bullying, and a third of our seniors live alone. United Way invests in our future through prevention programs, while also providing immediate support to those in need.
There are just two weeks left to act! Please join me in supporting the UBC Community United Way Campaign. A gift of a dollar a day can make an important difference in our communities, by helping 22 school-aged children in an anti-bullying program, or by assisting two senior citizens to gain access to activities and services, allowing them to remain engaged in their community.
Change starts here.
