Dear Department Members,

We are pleased to announce that our 2023 UBC Psychiatry Research Day will be held in person on Thursday June 8, 2023! Please “Save the Date” by adding the iCalendar Event to your Outlook calendars (be sure to click ‘Save & Close’).

WHEN: Thursday June 8, 2023 from 8:45am (sign in) to 4:00pm

WHERE: West Atrium / Lecture Theatre 1 at UBC Life Sciences Centre (2350 Health Sciences Mall on UBC Campus)

FORMAT: In-Person (Zoom option available)

Those who are in remote locations and/or are not able to join in person will now be able to attend all presentations virtually via Zoom. Please follow the instructions below:

Step 1:

Open https://ubc.zoom.us/ and click on ‘Join a Meeting’.

Step 2:

Enter the Zoom Meeting ID 96335 219366 then click ‘Join.’

Step 3:

If you have the Zoom client click ‘Open Zoom Meetings,’ otherwise, click ‘join from your browser.’

Step 4:

Enter the 219366 in the passcode field then click ‘Join Meeting.’


NOW CALLING FOR ABSTRACTS!

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

At this time, we invite faculty, residents, fellows, students and trainees who wish to present their work on Research Day to submit their abstracts using the ONLINE ABSTRACT SUBMISSION FORM by Saturday April 15, 2023 (11:59 PST).

Abstract Requirements:

  • A descriptive title
  • All authors and their affiliated institutions
  • Funding source (if applicable)
  • Must include the following elements: Research Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusions
  • The body of your abstract must NOT exceed 300 words.

SUBMIT ePOSTERS BY MAY 15!

Everyone who has submitted an abstract will be eligible to present a poster on our online ePoster Gallery (unless otherwise notified).Visit the Research Day web page for detailed instructions on preparing your ePoster.Please submit your ePoster in Powerpoint format using the ONLINE ePOSTER SUBMISSION FORM by Monday May 15th, 2023 (11:59pm).


**IN-PERSON POSTER / LIGHTNING TALK PRESENTATIONS:

The Research Day co-chairs will review the submitted abstracts, make the selections for Lightning Talk Presentations and In-Person Poster Presentations, and notify the individuals selected in early May.

If your abstract is selected for an In-Person Poster Presentation:

  • You must attend Research Day in person and also prepare a poster within the dimensions of a standard research poster (UBC horizontal poster template is 48″ x 36″)
  • If you would like to be considered for an In-Person Poster Presentation, please indicate as such in the Abstract Submission Form.

If your abstract is selected for a Lighting Talk Presentation:

  • You must attend in person and prepare a short 5-minute PowerPoint presentation (usually 3.5 minutes of speaking plus 1.5 minutes for questions) with 4 slides maximum (1 cover slide + 3 presentation slides).
  • If you would like to be considered for a Lightning Talk Presentation, please indicate as such on the Abstract Submission Form.
  • Those selected for a Lightning Talk Presentation may also submit an ePoster if they choose, or may opt out.
