We welcome individuals with diverse backgrounds and life experiences to ensure that equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) are incorporated into our programs, culture, and leadership. Our policies and resources:
- Promote inclusiveness in the everyday life of all the members of the Department
- Ensure Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) principles are incorporated in all aspects of recruitment, retention, and advancement of employees, trainees, and faculty
- Support inclusive and equitable practices to increase participation of underrepresented groups amongst medical students and psychiatry residents, faculty, and staff
EDIA & INDIGENOUS STRATEGY COMMITTEE
The Department of Psychiatry’s Strategic Plan identifies the advancement of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism (EDIA) as a strategic priority, and specifies our aim to engage with Indigenous partners and advocates to address the need for enhanced Indigenous-focused mental health care, research and education. The Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Anti-Racism (EDIA) & Indigenous Strategy Committee brings together the mandates of the Department’s former EDIA Committee and Indigenous Strategy Committee. The Committee advises the Department Head on the opportunities and challenges facing the Department in advancing EDIA, and fosters a department culture that values, promotes and embeds the principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism amongst Department faculty, staff and learners. The Committee also supports collaboration and partnership with Indigenous communities and partners, advances reconciliation, and promotes equitable treatment and representation in Indigenous mental health research, education, and clinical care.
