Eva joined the Department as the Senior Education Programs Manager in 2021, bringing to the role her prior UBC experience as both a program coordinator and an examinations site administrator for UGME. Currently, she works closely with the Education Program Directors, providing operational management for UBC Psychiatry’s Education Office and Programs, including the Postgraduate Specialty Training Program, Residency Sub-Specialty Postgraduate Training Programs, and the Psychiatry MD Undergraduate Program.

Ikuko joined the Department first as the Interim Project Manager in August 2023, then was brought on board on a permanent basis in December 2023. Ikuko is responsible for overseeing a broad range of organizational projects to support the Department and its strategic objectives, including the Vancouver Summer Program (VSP), the Psychiatry Summer Immersion Program (PSIP), and other initiatives related to education and general administration.

Gitika joined the UBC Psychiatry core administrative team in September 2024. As our HR Assistant, she administers the Student/Staff/Volunteer HR portfolio, handling all Workday processes, and providing day-to-day HR support for these groups. Prior to her current role, Gitika provided temporary support to the Department’s HR team through UBC Hiring Solutions in 2021 and most recently served as Senior Administrative Assistant to the UBC School of Social Work.

Linda has been a member of the UBC Psychiatry Education team since 2017, and prior to stepping into her current role, served as Education Coordinator for our Postgraduate program. She is currently responsible for managing day-to-day operations and providing support to the Department’s general psychiatry specialty program and three postgraduate subspecialty residency training programs. Additionally, she provides organizational support to the annual CaRMS process, as well as STACERS for PGY3-5 and other resident examinations.

Joining our Department in September 2023, Simon is responsible for managing UBC Psychiatry’s network and IT services, including overseeing our local area network (LAN) administration, delivering desktop support for a network of users across the Department, developing and implementing IT policies and procedures to ensure network stability and security, and leading the implementation of user, team, Department, Faculty-wide and UBC-wide initiatives and upgrades with regard to IT services.

Veronika has been a Department member since 2003, providing administrative support to Dr. Timothy Murphy, Dr. Lynn Raymond, Dr. Weihong Song, and other faculty members in the UBC Psychiatry Division of Neuroscience. Her primary responsibilities include preparing requisitions for payments, processing journal vouchers, reconciling grant accounts, as well as day-to-day office maintenance.

Danielle joined the Department as the Finance & Administrative Assistant in 2019, and is currently studying accounting at Thompson Rivers University. In addition to supporting all Workday financial processes for staff and faculty, she provides assistance to facilities and health & safety initiatives.

In her role, Margaret oversees all administrative operations, business operations and planning, space and facilities planning, and the portfolios of Human Resources, Finance, Communications, IT and Education in the Department. She also manages departmental strategic initiatives, provides oversight for budgets and financial commitments, provides administrative representation for the Department for internal and external units, and oversees all faculty recruitment planning, merit and PSA processes and other faculty affairs. Margaret has been a member of the Department since 2014, and prior to her current role, has held the positions of Assistant Manager, Faculty HR and Manager of Communications and Partnerships.

Allan has been a member of the Department and our IT team since 2003. In his role, Allan is responsible for maintaining the Department’s computer systems and network infrastructure, troubleshooting and providing user support for computer-related issues, providing front-line IT and audiovisual support to Department members, and triaging the day-to-day Psychiatry IT ticketing system.

Trevor joined the UBC Faculty of Medicine as a Financial Analyst supporting the UBC Department of Psychiatry in 2024. In his role, Trevor oversees processes related to general finance, including review of funding for hires and reconciliation processes. He also manages project grant set up, provides guidance on financial policies and procedures for the FoM and the Department, and provides solutions and support for all finance-related issues and queries.

Currently, she provides coordination and administrative support to the three postgraduate subspecialty residency training programs in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry.

Raquel first joined the Psychiatry Education team in May 2023. In her role, Raquel’s responsibilities include coordinating the master rotation schedule for the Fraser PGY2-5 Residents, coordinating evaluations and evaluation reports, maintaining Resident attendance records, providing administrative support to the Fraser Psychiatry Assistant Program Director, and acting as a program resource for our Fraser Residents.

A member of the Department since 2015, Leah has previously served as the Administrative Assistant to Dr. Anthony Bailey, as well as an HR Assistant in the core Administration team. In her current role, she oversees HR processes for all staff, students and faculty in the Department. Outside of her UBC role, Leah is an author who published her first novel, the award-winning Cine Star Salon, in 2022.

A member of the Department since July 2024, Megan is currently responsible for managing internal and external communications initiatives for UBC Psychiatry and the IMH. In addition to supporting departmental partnership engagements, she develops digital content and written communications, such as memoranda and announcements, newsletters and bulletins, and social media and website content on behalf of the Department Head and Administration team.

Ahsan joined the Department and the Psychiatry Education team in 2021, following completion of his undergraduate studies at UBC in 2020. In his role, Ahsan provides support for the postgradaute general psychiatry specialty program, and his responsibilities include scheduling weekly academic day seminars for PGY1-5 residents across multiple sites, handling faculty invoices for academic day teaching and resident reimbursements, and coordinating PGY2-5 Mock OSCEs.
Rei Sakuma, Administrative Assistant

The Department welcomed Rei to its core administrative team in January 2024. In her role, she provides day-to-day support to the Administration Office, primarily our HR and Finance teams, and also provides support in the coordination of Departmental projects, events and other initiatives. She is the point of contact for room bookings, maintenance and key requests, for supplies and vendor requests, and for general phone and email inquiries to the Department. Additionally, Rei provides reception support for our main Administrative Office in Detwiller Pavilion at UBC Hospital.
Nicole Sanford, IMH Research Manager
As IMH Research Manager, Nicole is responsible for the planning and coordination of IMH activities, including supporting fundraising activities, coordinating the annual IMH Marshall Fellows adjudication process, and contributing to the development of grant proposals, scientific papers, and other research-related materials. She works closely with investigators, health care providers and leaders, administrators, and community partners / organizations, and serves as a liaison between these groups and the UBC Psychiatry Administration Office. Nicole was previously a Postdoctoral Fellow in the research group led by Dr. Sophia Frangou.

Kaitlin joined the Department in August 2024 and is responsible for providing day-to-day administrative support to the Department Head and IMH Director, in addition to coordinating department events and meetings, and supporting the clinical and research activities of the UBC Mood Disorders Program. Prior to joining our staff, Kaitlin worked as Manager of Operations/Assistant to the Director of Academics at Ontario College of Health and Technology and as a regional supervisor for the YMCA.

Juan joined the Department in September 2023 as the Senior Program Assistant supporting Undergraduate Medical Education in Psychiatry for Year 3 and Year 4. In his role, he is responsible for coordinating scheduling for all Year 3 & 4 Psychiatry blocks and ensuring the successful day-to-day running of the program.
Terena Zhao, Administrative Assistant to Division Heads

Terena joined the Department’s core administrative team in December 2023, and in her role, acts as the Division Heads’ primary point of contact and will be responsible for coordinating meetings, organizing events, and undertaking other administrative tasks as needed to support our six Division Heads.
